day trips south australia

Vin’s Buses has expanded from just a few minibuses a few years ago, to that of a thriving South Australian business, serving the community with a fleet of 30 vehicles, including large coaches.  “Whilst seniors and retiree day tours have been a core part of our charter activity, we can now do it in a bigger and better way, now that we have three Mercedes coaches in the fleet which can carry up to 50 passengers” said managing director Vin Pistola.

More than 20 new day tour itineraries have been developed and costed, so that seniors clubs, retirement villages, respite groups and PROBUS clubs, can receive a range of them to choose from with just a phone call or e-mail request. “Each have been carefully planned so that the morning starts are not too early, the day is relaxing , fun and often educational , and we get the groups safely home in time for dinner” said Vin.  Tours can range from a Victor Harbour & South Coast day, to a fabulous cruise on the Coorong, through to a day at Monarto Zoo, with a stopover at Hahndorf.  Gawler and the Barossa Valley are popular, as are trips to Mintaro/Clare and even Banrock Station on the Murray. Vins offers a day of entertainment by The Pryers at Mt Compass, a day in the hills including some time at the National Motor Museum, and a day at Old Tailem Town. Then groups can elect to take a Dolphin Cruise from  Port Adelaide, with a stopover at the amazing Fort Glanville, or choose a wonderful new tour we have set up of the unique Eamonn Vereker glassblowing studio.

“We have tried to make them very economical, but also high in quality, with most lunch options including both a budget and a higher level menu” he added. Importantly, the Vins day tours are transparently costed, with the client groups able to access the supplementary tours, such as boat cruises, and lunches at coach company rates, payable direct to the providers.

All day tours come with a free morning tea when it can be packed, all part of the great value of Vin’s day tours.  This is normally at a shelter en-route to the main destination, and is a much appreciated part of the day.

Vin’s tour leader/drivers are specially selected and are skilled in this type of work. They have been trained in the needs of the infirm, and all vehicles carry an emergency kit of first aid and spare clothing. “We have a real empathy for senior’s clubs and understand the needs of the older age groups ” said Vin.

Ms Valmorbida and her interstate friends love the art world and short holidays with art as the theme. They also love wine. So a trip to the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale too their fancy. They visited Carrick Hill, the famous Hans Heysen Studio at Hahndorf, a number of wineries in McLaren Vale …they particularly liked Woodtsock Winery where they enjoyed lunch.

Vins/Adelaide Minibus were given great credit for the wonderful tour……. “Great service, easy to do business with, high quality vehicle and a fabulous driver with strong knowledge of the wine region”

The Salford Retirement Village social group recently asked Vin’s to take their 40 members on a day tour of Goolway and the Coorong. Some of the members were infirm, requiring help with walkers and boarding the coach.

Pick-up time was at 10am and a complimentary, packed morning tea was enjoyed at McLaren Vale en-route.

The Vin’s team partnered with the great people from Spirit of the Coorong Cruises, to provide a 4 hour cruise to the Murray Mouth and to the last navigatable Coorong stopover, The Snake Pit (the old well is frequented by a variety of reptiles including tigersnakes, but none were seen on the day).

A large family of fur seals have colonised the barrage, enabling a close-up view of them sleeping on the timber rails as the cruise boat exited the lock that separates the sea water from the fresh water of the Murray.

A fabulous lunch was provided on board along with tea/coffee and the crew took pride in what they were doing, intimately knowing the history of Goolwa and the Coorong.

The group arrived back home at exactly 5pm as planned.

Salford organisor, Ross, said that their social club enjoyed the day immensely, the coach was airconditioned and very comfortable, the driver helped with the oldies and infirm, the Vins admin team had planned the day outstandingly, and the cost was less than $100 per person including the boat cruise and lunch. “We will definitely be using Vin’s again” he said…..” a fabulous day and truly great value”
